Class 1 HG Worlds 2019 - the first challenges

Today 22d Hang gliding Class 1 World Championship started with the first competition task of 86 km race to the goal. Successful launch of 121 participants from Meduno takeoff took place at 13.15 local time with 2 start gates opening at 14.30 and 15.00 respectively. Weather conditions and several restricted airspaces were the main challenges faced by the pilots.

The fastest pilots were the luckiest.  The first gaggle made all the task route smoothly, the second had to escape rain cloud formation and the third had to land out because the root was already blocked.

75 pilots in goal. Good beginning.
