IPPI Card: Chinese Taipei

Date of submission or update:
5 March 2019

Is the IPPI card accepted in your country ?

Yes

What is the minimum legal requirement coverage required in your country ?

For pilot personal health and medical, there is no law in our country that says insurance is required, it depends on which take off pilot are using, if they are using a responsible flying site, the site will usually have a service fee with insurance included in a daily base. If Pilots fly on their own, in some site, it is totally free, so in other words, there are no legal requirements, only moral suggestions. This is for private pilot flying if it is a tandem flight, that is a different story.

What additional coverage does your country recommend (such as medical insurance, search and rescue etc...) ?

No such coverage provided unless in competition. We have medical insurance on site. Our Search-and-Rescue is free of charge and provided by our government (fire service department).

Is your NAC prepared to provide special insurance coverage for guest pilots who do not comply with your national law ?

Pilots are advised to buy medical insurance when they come to  Taiwan to fly. We have insurance policy people at hand that can provide this service, but we are not the ones who sell this insurance coverage. We don't have the manpower to do this.
